Cara Delevigne, Brook Shields in the 90’s, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, and now, you. What do you have in common? Fully-shaped, dare I say it – voluptuous brows that are face defining.
But wait, you say: how do I accomplish this? Easy – with eyebrow tinting.
Eyebrow tinting uses semi-permanent vegetable dye to enhance the colour, shape and thickness of your brows. Did you just wake up like that? Yes you did.
It can instantly make you look groomed and add more structure to your face. You don’t have to fill them in with powder or pencil so it shaves minutes off your morning routine.
Tinting is ideal if you have pale, fine brows. Darker brows can give definition and edge to your look. If you have light eyes, tinting your brows a darker colour can really help them pop.
Tinting can help you achieve that 3D, voluminous effect. The colour coats the hair, making each strand look more substantial. It can also help you find hair that you didn’t realise you had – the tint can help highlight the peach-fuzz hairs you may have to give you shape you never knew you had.
Tinting your brows leaves a more natural look, and you won’t see any of the small marks that an eyebrow pencil can leave behind. Your more pronounced brows allow your to wear less makeup.
If you go from dark to light, or vice versa – it’s important that the carpet match the drapes. If you go lighter, eyebrow tinting can help you add balance. Going blonde? Soften black brows by making them dark brown.
You will have a consultation with the specialist to find the right shape and tone that will flatter your face shape, complement your skin tone and your hair colour. Tinting last for a week weeks so it is important to talk through the look you want to achieve.
Use your hair colour as a guide. We suggest going one or two shades deeper than the base tone of your hair. If you go too dark, your brows may look fake and inky.
Your specialist will help you find the most flattering shape but the general guidelines are:
Your specialist will tweeze your eyebrows into your desired shape. Pro tip: we recommend that leave your eyebrows along for at least two weeks before your appointment.
Then, they will apply the tint to your brows and the fine hairs on the perimeter. They will wipe off the tint and check how dark your brows have gotten every five minutes. This is important because colour developers work quickly on your fine eyebrow hairs as opposed to the head on your hair. They will repeat this step until you have achieved the colour you want.
The tint will slowly fade after the first two weeks, and will be completely gone after the fourth week. If you are someone who is quite active and exercises a lot, the sweat may mean that you may have to touch a little bit more.
Between appointments, try to only tweeze the spot in between your eyebrows. Everything else is a no-pluck zone. This will help you to maintain your shape.
